Community access at T.A.E.I.L.

Informational Architecture Guide — Not a Live Registration or Login System

T.A.E.I.L. is developing a thoughtful, two-domain structure to connect people around grief, remembrance, reflection, preparation, celebration, and mutual care. This page explains how public exploration, future verified community participation, and private sensitive services are designed to work together safely.

Identity verification can help support accountability, but it does not make a person's legal name public, guarantee another person's safety or honesty, or replace privacy controls, moderation, safeguarding, and personal judgment.

Public material and future community participation

Our intended public domain, taeilcommunity.org, will host both open public material and an authenticated community layer for verified participants:

  • Public visitor content remains open to everyone without requiring an account: learning resources, organizational governance, safeguarding standards, crisis signposting, and public updates.
  • Future authenticated community functions will require an eligible verified account before someone can post, message, or participate in community exchanges.

Visitors, Users, and Members

T.A.E.I.L.'s access architecture distinguishes four distinct roles to protect community trust and personal boundaries:

Visitor

Anyone accessing the public web. No login is required. Visitors may read public information, editorial content, and material explicitly designated public by its author.

User

An adult who creates an account, completes required tiered verification, agrees to community standards, and remains in good standing. Users may access future community forums, Shared Reflections, request-and-accept messaging, and Garage Sale.

Member

A verified User with an active paid membership entitlement once legally live. Members access all community tools plus sensitive legacy and remembrance services on taeil.life.

Caretaker / Contact

A verified User or Member specifically designated by a Member with defined, recorded, revocable, and auditable permissions for after-death or emergency delegation.

Privacy-led discoverability

Every participant controls their own discovery profile separately from their content permissions. T.A.E.I.L. provides four privacy-led discoverability settings:

  • Invisible / Not Searchable (Default) — Not discoverable in general member lookups or people search.
  • Private Circle — Visible only to members of your agreed mutual-care circles or approved contacts.
  • Authenticated Community — Discoverable only by logged-in, verified Users and Members.
  • Public — Discoverable by public visitors, displaying only fields you have deliberately made public.

Crucial rule: Seeing someone in a directory search, having a conversation with them, seeing their public reflection, or possessing a link never grants access to their Sanctuary, Memorial, or sensitive records. Access always requires explicit, revocable server-side permissions.

Future Shared Reflections, messaging, and Circle of Care

Community participation is guided by dignity and safety:

  • Shared Reflections: A planned reflective community space for verified adult Users and Members to share lived experiences, life lessons, meaningful thoughts, humane questions, remembrance, and gratitude. Contributors choose whether a reflection is visible to the authenticated community or submitted for public visibility, and select their preferred response setting. For full details, see our Shared Reflections overview.
  • Chosen display names are used by default. Real-name verification is maintained securely in the system for safety and accountability; it is not broadcast publicly.
  • Request-and-accept direct messaging: Non-members and strangers cannot immediately open direct chats. A conversation begins only when the recipient explicitly accepts a message request.
  • Circle of Care: Intended for small, mutual-care circles to stay in touch gently. Circle of Care is care and connection—it is never surveillance, emergency monitoring, or a guarantee of personal safety.

Future Garage Sale

T.A.E.I.L. plans an online community used-item listing service where verified Users and Members can offer pre-loved items to one another. Garage Sale will operate under strict safety baselines:

  • It is restricted to verified community participants and will not be publicly browseable at launch.
  • Exact residential addresses, phone numbers, and legal names are never published on listings. Only broad collection areas (such as a municipality or general neighborhood) are shown.
  • T.A.E.I.L. will not initially hold funds, provide escrow, arrange delivery, or guarantee item condition or transactions.

For complete details on safety guidance and prohibited listings, visit our dedicated Garage Sale feature overview.

What is not available yet

To avoid misunderstanding, please note that T.A.E.I.L. is in a pre-launch build phase. None of the following systems are currently operational:

  • Account creation, login, or real-name document verification
  • Live community forums, Shared Reflections posting, or direct messaging
  • Directory search or discoverability configuration
  • Garage Sale item listings, transactions, or seller messaging
  • Purchasable memberships or payments of any kind

If you encounter a link to a restricted area on our development prototypes, our Access Required explanation page will guide you back to public resources.
