Future Garage Sale
Informational Architecture Guide — Not a Live Marketplace or Listing Service
T.A.E.I.L. is planning a dedicated, verified-community used-item listing service called Garage Sale. This future feature is designed to allow verified Users and Members to pass on meaningful or useful pre-loved items to others within a trusted community network.
Verification supports mutual accountability, but it does not guarantee identity, item ownership, condition, legality, payment, delivery, or safety. Participants remain personally responsible for their choices and arrangements.
A community used-item listing space
The concept is modeled after a neighborhood physical garage sale conducted online. In physical life, when you hold a garage sale, you decide what to offer, negotiate honestly with your neighbors, and arrange collection in person. You take practical precautions and rely on your own judgment.
T.A.E.I.L. provides the community directory and communication tools. We do not act as a buyer, seller, auctioneer, payment escrow, shipper, guarantor, or commercial insurer.
Who may eventually participate
To preserve mutual trust and limit commercial spam, Garage Sale participation will be strictly bounded:
- Adult-only initial eligibility: Initial participation will be restricted to verified adult Users and Members.
- Verified access: Only users who have completed tiered real-name identity verification will be permitted to browse, post items, or send listing-related messages.
- Not publicly browseable: Public visitors cannot view items, seller profiles, or listing details. Visitors will see an explanatory overview rather than listings.
Privacy and safe arrangements
Safety and identity protection are non-negotiable core principles:
- No public exact addresses: Listings will never show a seller's home address, phone number, email, or full legal name. Listings will show only a broad collection area (such as a municipality, city, or general neighborhood).
- Safe meeting guidance: T.A.E.I.L. will provide clear guidance encouraging participants to arrange handovers in well-lit, public locations (such as community centers or local public spots) rather than inviting strangers into their homes.
- Display name protection: Sellers and buyers use chosen display names by default. Verified identity records remain held privately within the administrative security perimeter for accountability.
Responsibilities and limits
Every participant in Garage Sale retains personal responsibility for their transactions:
- Sellers are responsible for confirming they have the lawful right to sell the item, disclosing any known faults, providing accurate descriptions, and ensuring the item is safe.
- Buyers are responsible for asking questions, inspecting items upon collection, choosing their own independent payment method, and deciding whether to proceed.
- Prohibited items baseline: Future rules will strictly prohibit weapons, ammunition, fireworks, controlled drugs, prescription medicines, alcohol, nicotine/vaping products, stolen goods, recalled products, live animals, adult services, and unauthorized financial instruments.
What will not be provided at first
To keep the platform simple, transparent, and legally sound, T.A.E.I.L. will not offer at initial launch:
- Platform-held payments, digital escrow, or buyer payment processing
- Integrated courier shipping, freight booking, or delivery guarantees
- Item insurance, condition warranties, or counterfeit reimbursement
- Commercial dispute arbitration or transaction mediation
What is not available yet
Garage Sale is a planned future feature. At this stage:
- No marketplace is active.
- No item listings can be created or searched.
- No buyer-seller messaging or item transactions can occur.
Before Garage Sale can be tested or deployed, it will undergo a comprehensive Canadian legal, tax (GST/HST), consumer protection, safeguarding, and operational review alongside our future Technical Lead.
